Each year, the Waterloo Catholic District School Board holds a special Commissioning Ceremony to celebrate the many unique gifts brought to our schools by our newly-appointed Administrators and School Council Chairs. This year’s ceremony – including a special Liturgy of the Word, presided over by the Board’s Spiritual Animator, Fr. Toby Collins, C.R. – asked God’s blessings upon the #PeopleOfFaith whose talents continue to make our schools the #HeartOfTheCommunity, where fostering success for each, and finding a place for all, motivates all we do.
The Commissioning Ceremony concluded with this Prayer for Leaders:
God of all creation who walks with us as we go forward on a mission of Love, Hope and Faith, help all the newly Commissioned to be stewards of that mission in the schools they serve.
May you have the grace and wisdom to act kindly, learning to distinguish between what is personal and what is not.
May you be hospitable to criticism.
May you never put yourself at the centre of things.
May you act not from arrogance but out of service.
May you work on yourself, building up and refining the ways of your mind.
May you learn to cultivate the art of presence, in order to engage with those who meet you.
May you have good friends, to mirror your blind spots.
May leadership be for you a true adventure of growth.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
