Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion: A Transformational Lens
In our Catholic/Christian tradition, we have a moral imperative to act intentionally to ensure those we serve – staff, students and communities – are treated with respect and dignity. We work intentionally to disrupt oppressive systems for the benefit of future generations.
Equity
Equity is a condition or state of fair, inclusive and respectful treatment of all people. Equity requires deliberate actions that strive to identify and eliminate barriers that have prevented full participation and inclusion of some groups.
Diversity
Diversity is a composition of individuals with varying characteristics that reflect the broader community or population. Varying characteristics may include, but are not limited to, sex, age, gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation.
Inclusion
Inclusion is an environment in which all individuals are treated fairly, respectfully and are valued. There is equitable access to opportunities and resources, that ensures that those historically shoved aside can contribute fully.
