Extended Day at WCDSB: Helping Children Thrive Beyond the School Day
Your Guide to Extended Day Registration for 2025-2026
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is pleased to once again offer the Extended Day Program for the 2025–2026 school year.
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is pleased to offer a fee-based Extended Day Program for children from Kindergarten to Grade 6.
Led by Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs), the program provides high-quality, faith-based care that supports children’s growth through engaging, play-based learning experiences. Activities are designed to foster curiosity, independence, communication skills, and overall development, while complementing the Kindergarten curriculum.
By having familiar educators from the school day, the program ensures a seamless, consistent and secure experience for both children and families. Offered in a convenient school setting, the program promotes equity of access in a safe, inclusive and nurturing environment.
Everything You Need to Know to Get Started
Care That Fits Your Family’s Routine
You can choose the care schedule that works best for your household:
- Full-time: Monday to Friday
- Part-time: Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday
Fees for the 2025–2026 School Year
- $34/day for most students
- $12.59/day for JK/SK students eligible under the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program
- $45/day on PA Days and during school breaks
- A $30 registration fee per child will be billed in September for families who secure a spot in the program. This fee does not apply to students covered by CWELCC or child care subsidy.
Start Date
Programs begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
If your child is in JK or SK and follows a staggered entry, fees will be adjusted after the first week.
Consistent Scheduling
To support staffing and planning, weekly schedules must stay the same.
We are not able to accommodate rotating or alternating care days.
Registration Is First Come, First Served
There is no waitlist or early access—registrations are processed in the order they are received. Just register on or after your school’s assigned day, and we’ll take care of the rest.
How to Register
- Registration opens on June 16, 2025 at 7:00 a.m.
- Visit: OneHSN/OneList
Receiving Child Care Subsidy?
If you’re currently receiving a child care subsidy and your approved hours or reason for care are less than five days per week, please contact your Subsidy Caseworker to review your schedule and needs for the 2025–2026 school year.
Need More Details?
For full program information—including policies, schedules, and billing—please see the Parent Handbook here.
Your School’s Registration Day
To help keep the registration process smooth and fair for everyone, access will open in phases based on the first letter of your child’s school.
Please register on or after your school’s scheduled date.
There’s no advantage to registering earlier—spaces are managed by school and fairly distributed. This phased approach helps manage volume and keeps the system running smoothly.
