Extended Day at WCDSB: Helping Children Thrive Beyond the School Day
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is pleased to once again offer the Extended Day Program for the 2025–2026 school year. This trusted, fee-based program provides safe, inclusive and engaging before-and-after school care for children in Kindergarten to Grade 6. Led by Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECEs), the program supports children’s growth through play-based, faith-filled learning that fosters curiosity, independence and strong communication skills. With familiar educators from the school day, children experience a seamless and secure environment in a convenient school-based setting.
As we prepare for another great year, there are a few important updates to share about registration, care options and daily fees.
Everything You Need to Know to Get Started
Care that fits your family’s routine:
You can choose the care schedule that works best for your family:
- Full-time (Monday to Friday)
- Part-time (Monday/Wednesday/Friday or Tuesday/Thursday)
Fees for the 2025–2026 school year:
- $34/day for most students
- $12.59/day for JK/SK students eligible for the Canada-wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) program
- $45/day on PA Days and during school breaks
- A $30 registration fee per applicable child will be billed in September for families who secure a spot in the program. This fee does not apply to students covered by CWELCC or child care subsidy.
Start date:
Programs begin on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.
If your child is in JK or SK and starting with a staggered entry, don’t worry—your fees will be adjusted after the first week.
Choose a weekly schedule that works for you:
To support staffing and planning, schedules must stay the same each week. We’re not able to accommodate rotating or alternating days.
First come, first served:
Spots are assigned in the order registrations are received. There’s no priority or waitlist—just register on your school’s assigned date, and we’ll take care of the rest.
How to register:
- Registration opens on June 16, 2025, at 7 a.m.

Receiving childcare subsidy?
If you’re currently receiving a childcare subsidy and your approved hours or reason for care are less than five days per week, please connect with your Subsidy Caseworker to review your care needs for the 2025–2026 school year.

Your School’s Registration Day
To make registration smoother for everyone, we’re opening it in phases based on the first letter of your child’s school.
Please register on or after your school’s scheduled date.
There’s no need to rush—spots are managed by school and handled fairly, no matter which day your school’s registration opens. This approach helps reduce wait times and keeps the system running smoothly.
