This past Tuesday, the Women’s, and Men’s Hockey teams from each of our Secondary schools along with 350 students from St. Anne’s school in Kitchener, were provided with the opportunity to observe Team Canada’s Senior Women’s Hockey team’s, open practice as they prepared for an important game at The Aud. This game was part of the Rivalry Series which highlights the best female hockey players within Canada and the United States of America and is being hosted across North America over a series of four months. Loren Gabel, a current member of this team, is one of our own as a former student at St. Mary’s and St. Anne’s (K).

What a wonder it was to watch many of our younger students who had never seen live hockey before find joy and enthusiasm in our Nation’s national winter sport. Equally impressive was watching our Secondary hockey team members, who have plenty of knowledge about the game, sit and watch intently with incredible focus for two hours as they learned new things. It was impressive and a great day all around.
