Program Scope and Sequence

Bosco Scope and Sequence (Students will move through the Pathways at their own pace based on personal needs)

Step 1

Academic Pathway

  • Identify Learning Styles and Needs Assess Strengths.
  • Identify areas of need (i.e., Ed Assessment, Psych Ed, etc.)
    • Credit Recovery
    • ‘Credit Catch Up’
    • Focus on interest courses and compulsory credits.
    • The goal is an integrated plan to earn 30 credits.

Socio / Emotional Pathway

  • Needs Assessment (assist students in obtaining any of these as needed):
    • ID (birth certificate, health card, SIN)
    • current community supports (mental health, addiction, financial, legal)
    • general life skills
  • Relationship building.
  • Setting and following a daily routine.
  • D2L courses – Mental Health / Wellness.
  • Focus on wellness activities.

Community Connection Pathway

  • Focus – Bosco community – build a plan for students to contribute.
  • Identify interests, areas of need for community connections.
  • Develop skills to be a member of the school community.

Step 2

Academic Pathway

  • Plan forward – Implement learning from assessments.
  • New Credits (Grade 11 and 12)
  • Begin planning for post secondary.
  • PLAR planning as appropriate.

Socio / Emotional Pathway

  • Job search and maintenance.
  • Building independence with achieving goals, e.g., set specific goals and consistently follow up.
  • Following through with school and community supports, e.g., bus pass, community agencies.

Community Connections Pathway

  • Volunteer Focus – accomplishing the 40 hours of community involvement.
  • Connections for community help / resources.

Step 3

Academic Pathway

  • Graduation ready
  • Plan for a combined compulsory and elective courses.
  • Substitute Coop as appropriate
  • Post Secondary Focus:
    • Post-secondary pathway (college, university, work), complete OSSD at St. Louis, etc.

Socio / Emotional Pathway

  • Preparing for transition back to home school, post-secondary school, St. Louis, or workplace
  • Actively working on independence skills, e.g., budgeting, housing, personal supports.

Community Connection Pathway

  • Connecting to the Community
  • Post-secondary visits
  • What resources / organizations does the student need to be connected to job-ready skills and searches.
