St. Paul Overview

“Together We Can Make a Difference”

St. Paul Catholic Elementary School is home to the proud Panthers! We officially opened in 1964 and are located on the Southwest side of Kitchener, in the Forest Hills community. The school has a current population of 275 students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade eight – along with 38 staff members. The school reached a peak enrolment of 709 students in 1998. In 2004 the new John Sweeney Catholic Elementary School was built which removed some of the pressure from St. Paul. Over the years St. Paul Catholic Elementary School has received three additions to include more classrooms and offices for the school. In 2014 St Paul celebrated its 50th Anniversary, filled with yearlong events and a 50th Anniversary reunion.

St. Paul students, staff, families, and community members celebrate our school masses and sacraments at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Kitchener. We are extremely proud of the relationships we have with the Church, including the school liaison Ruthann Fischer and pastor Father Joseph de Vivieros, CR.

St. Paul Catholic School is dedicated to our community partnerships, including: Strong Start, the Terry Fox Run and the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the YWCA Child Care Centre located at the school. Ours is a vibrant school community offering numerous co-curricular activities including our Spirit Team which plans many special days and activities for our school community, numerous sports teams, choir, and a number of clubs. In our monthly school assemblies we publicly celebrate students who demonstrate positive values according to our Catholic “Virtue of the Month.

There is a very active School Council that assists in fundraising, safety, communication, our annual open house and Grade 8 graduation, Pancake Day, field trips, and volunteering in the classrooms. The St. Paul community continues to be dedicated to Catholic education, and values the work the parish, home and school do together to deepen our faith and raise the achievement levels of all our students. We owe a debt of gratitude to all the parents, staff members, pastors, superintendents, and trustees who have been part of St. Paul Catholic School through the years.

St. Paul Catholic Elementary School is the heart of the community, where success for each and a place for all is not only proclaimed, but lived every day for every one of our students.

We look forward to many more years in partnership with others to continue to deepen the wonderful tradition of Catholic Education at St. Paul Catholic Elementary School in Kitchener.
