Our Lady of Fatima Overview

Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Elementary School is located in the Village of Hespeler within the city of Cambridge.  The school opened in 1959 and has received three structural additions; in 1968, 2004 and most recently in 2013. In 2010 Our Lady of Fatima celebrated its 50th Anniversary.

Our Lady of Fatima is part of the St. Mary of the Visitation Parish community.  Under the guidance of Fr. Freitas, our students have many opportunities to grow as faithful disciples of the Risen Lord.  OLOF partners with St. Mary’s on several initiatives such as annual Haitian relief efforts (Hats for Haiti and Milk Bag Collection), Thanksgiving Food Drive, and the Red Stocking Campaign.

The parent community at Our Lady of Fatima is extremely strong in its support of student learning and initiatives.  Our Catholic School Council, through fundraising and the formation of sub-committees, is able to support a variety of learning opportunities for our students.   It is through these learning opportunities that students are able to develop their understanding of what it means to live the Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations: a responsible citizen, a caring family member, a collaborative contributor, a reflective, creative and holistic thinker, a self-directed responsible lifelong learner, a discerning believer and an effective communicator.

Our Lady of Fatima is a vibrant school community that works together to support the learning of the 410 students in our care.  It is the WCDSB’s Cambridge site for French Immersion and Intensive French is offered to students in grade five.  The Staff at OLOF prides itself on supporting students both in the classroom as well as through co-curricular activities.  We have been a leader in our Board with implementing School-Based Instructional Rounds for educators and offer students the opportunity to participate on school teams as well as school-centred clubs and teams such as Intramurals, Choir, Drama Club, Chess Club, Skills Canada, Student Council and WE Day Team.
