To our community members:
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) prides itself in providing a welcoming, safe, and faith-based learning environment for our students. The guiding principles of our Catholic social teachings are aligned with educational mandates that speak to equity, diversity, inclusion, and belonging. Our faith will continue to guide us, as we work intentionally for the common good and champion the dignity of all people.
Our priority at the WCDSB, as both a board and educators, is to put the safety and well-being of our students and staff first. As with all our work, we are guided by legislation. Supported by the Human Rights Code, we will stand against any actions that may discriminate against our students and staff under any of their protected grounds, which include gender identity, gender expression, sex, and sexual orientation.
In adherence with the Education Act, as a school board, it is our duty to promote a positive and accepting school atmosphere that welcomes all students and staff, regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. As always, we will access any resources that we can to support the child, including parents and caregivers, social workers, and child and youth care workers.
Our commitment remains consistent: putting students and staff safety at the forefront of our work.
