What’s New for 2026/2027

New provider: Mekanys will deliver Extended Day Program (EDP) services at WCDSB schools beginning in the 2026/2027 school year.

Streamlined forms process: Forms such as anaphylaxis, medical and diabetic management will be aligned with existing school processes, so families complete them in one place rather than twice.

Christmas Break and March Break locations: EDP will operate at pre-set sites during Christmas Break and March Break, with programs combining at shared locations. The Parent Handbook lists where each school’s EDP will run during these breaks, and you’ll be able to select the appropriate site during registration.

Waitlist

Has the waitlist changed? How does it work, and is priority given?

Yes. Starting in the 2026/2027 school year, the online registration system will automatically place students on the waitlist based on priority group and the date and time of registration within each group.

Waitlist Priority Order:

Priority 1: Existing students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2 (and their siblings) who are enrolled and attending as of April 30.
Priority 2: Existing students in Grades 3 to 6 (and their siblings) who are enrolled and attending as of April 30.
Priority 3: Students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 2 (and their siblings) who are new to the program or currently on the waitlist.
Priority 4: Students in Grades 3 to 6 (and their siblings) who are new to the program or currently on the waitlist.

Existing families must register between May 19 and May 29 to receive Priority 1 or 2 placement. Within each priority group, students are ordered by the date and time their online registration is submitted.

Waitlist Notifications

Families will be notified of waitlist status through the registration portal. If your child is placed on the waitlist, you’ll receive an email from the portal when space becomes available. Once a space is offered, families have 72 hours to respond.

How do I withdraw my child from Extended Day?

This must be completed by the parent/account holder by logging into their Mekanys Parent Portal.

If I withdraw, do I keep my waitlist spot?

If you withdraw and re-register, your original position on the waitlist is not guaranteed.

How do I report an absence or vacation? How do I use my vacation days?

Apply vacation days by logging onto the portal.  Vacation days can be used for scheduled absences and/or vacations. You have 10 vacation days per year/per child. They must be applied 1-week in advance. Vacation days CANNOT be used for Breaks OR PD days.

Can someone else pick up my child?

The individual picking up the child must be listed in the Mekanys Parent Portal and on the child’s short enrolment form and must present valid identification/documentation at pick-up.
