French Immersion: Learning in French

French Immersion is an optional program that begins in Grade 1. Limited enrollment is offered at six sites: Our Lady of Fatima (Cambridge), St Peter (Cambridge), St Anne (Kitchener), Sir Edgar Bauer (Waterloo), St Luke (Waterloo), and Holy Rosary (Waterloo). Spots are allocated through a lottery system. The lottery opens when students return from the Christmas break in January and closes on January 31st. Spots are allocated in three phases: First, younger siblings of students that are already in the program; Second, students that are already attending Senior Kindergarten at a WCDSB school; Third, students enrolling from outside the school board.
In elementary school, the subjects taught in French include: FSL, Science and Technology, Social Studies, the Arts, Physical Education and Health. The subjects taught in English include Language, Math, Religion and Family Life. For more information you are invited to explore the Parent Information Link, the boundary map, and the transportation links below.
