Summer Reading Intervention Program

This summer the WCDSB will be offering an online Summer Reading Intervention Program to support Grade One and Grade Two students who would benefit from additional support in early literacy skills using evidence-based reading interventions.

Summer Learning

Program Information:

  • Program delivery will include Corrective Reading Level A and Lexia with Social-Emotional learning opportunities embedded in the program.
  • Students will participate in 2 hours of virtual learning per day from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. from July 5 – July 23
  • The program will target students in Grade One and Grade Two who would benefit from additional support in early literacy skill development. Data from the Balanced Literacy Assessment Measures will help to inform student selection (i.e., letter-sound recall: by the end of SK, most students should be able to recall all the consonant and short vowel sounds. By the end of Grade 1, most students should be able to recall most of the letter sounds).
  • Cost:FREE
  • Student Acceptance: Based on learning profile and time of registration.
