Principal's Welcome
Welcome to the Canadian Martyrs Catholic Elementary School website for the 2025–2026 academic school year. It is our hope that all families will eventually use this web page to stay current and up to date with all the activities that will be taking place at Canadian Martyrs School. Please take time to review this site on a regular basis.
Our mission at Canadian Martyrs Catholic School, with home, Church and community, is committed to nurturing the growth and future success of faith-centred individuals through the pursuit of academic excellence, Catholic values and respect for all. At Canadian Martyrs, we believe that God’s love is the divine force that unites us all. This interconnectedness serves as a reminder of our duty to one another and fuels our dedication to fostering a deeper understanding about the world around us and our place within it. We understand that this awareness is cultivated through environments that value and honor the multitude of perspectives and lived experiences that embody our student population.
We are committed to providing engaging learning experiences that build strong foundations in reading, writing, math, and problem‑solving—while also nurturing creativity, collaboration, and character. Through hands-on activities, integrated technology, and a focus on social‑emotional learning, we aim to empower students to become confident learners and kind, responsible citizens.
Families are essential partners in our work. We deeply value your involvement and encourage open communication, participation in school events, and collaboration as we support your child’s success together. When school and home work as a team, incredible things happen.
Our teachers and support staff are among the most dedicated in their profession. They provide students with quality learning opportunities consistent with current research-based strategies and practices. We as a staff are committed to continuously improving student achievement results and maintaining high academic standards. Our staff members also ensure that our students enjoy and benefit from a school life rich in co-curricular activities and experiences.
We look forward to working with all families in a collaborative and supportive manner. We encourage you to always be actively involved in your child’s education. If you have any inquiries about how to register your child at Canadian Martyrs School, please contact the school’s main office and speak to Mrs. Van Bargen, our Administrative Assistant.
Thank you for your continued interest in your child’s/children’s education and your continued support of Catholic education. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us at the school.
Yours Truly,
Gary Lankowski
Principal
Catholic School Advisory Council
Welcome to our Catholic School Advisory Council!
The education of our children is a partnership, working together to build a strong school community. Welcome, we’re glad you’re here.
What is the Role of the Catholic School Advisory Council?
A school council is an advisory body that functions within the parameters of Ministry of Education and Board policy. School councils provide an opportunity and the means to advise the principal and the Board on any matter on the improvement of pupil achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents/guardians. The ultimate responsibility for the administration and management of the day-to-day operation of the school rests with the principal.
A school council is an important venue for the various stakeholders in education to work in partnership. Its role, in collaboration with the principal, staff, and the community, is to help set the priorities of the school and to enhance learning opportunities, through various activities, for the benefit of our children/students.
What a Catholic School Advisory Council is not
A school council is not a place to pursue your own agenda or advocate for your own child. Individual issues should be pursued through the classroom teacher and/or principal.

Land Acknowledgement
The schools in the Waterloo Catholic District School Board are situated on the Haldimand tract of land that is the traditional home of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe and Chonnonton People. We acknowledge the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge, laws and philosophies of the Indigenous Peoples with whom we share this land today.
We seek a new relationship with the Original People of this land, one based on honour and deep respect. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn here and reaffirm our collective commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our community.
Parish
Our Catholic Faith is taught, reinforced and celebrated in our school, homes and parish. We are so fortunate to have an excellent relationship with our local parish.
