Principal's Welcome
It is a pleasure to welcome you to the St. Kateri Tekakwitha CES website. We hope that you find this website useful and informative. Please make sure to take a look at this site on a regular basis as we will keep posting important calendar events and important news updates to keep you in the loop!
Our goal at St. Kateri Tekakwitha CES is to create a Christ-centred, positive, encouraging and stimulating learning environment for our students so that each child will have the opportunity to learn, experience, and grow to his or her potential. We believe that to achieve the most fulfilling and rewarding education for your child, everyone must work together as a team. Children’s attitudes, values and self-concepts are moulded at home and at school. This calls for a home/school partnership to encourage learning skill development, respect and self-discipline. Together with parents/guardians, our staff want to instill a sense of responsibility, self-worth, respect for self, others and the environment. We look forward to your continued support throughout the school year.
Our school is blessed with a caring, talented staff who are committed to creating opportunities for students to share their wonderful gifts. Included in our community is our parish, St. Aloysius. Under the guidance of Father Melvin and Father Sunil, the students will have the opportunity to grow and learn about our faith through the sacraments and our daily prayer life. As a family, we can provide our children with a quality Catholic Education and bring promise to our school mission statement: to live and glorify our faith in all aspects of the school day and year. By doing so each of us can positively impact the lives of others and society.
Everyday at St. Kateri is a brand-new day full of opportunity and hope. Our mantra is Today is a great day to have a great day! We hope that our students embody this and take full advantage of the promise that each and every day offers them. If we have to rise, we might as well shine!
We are looking forward to an exciting school year and creating more memories as we appreciate our God given gifts and talents. Please feel free to contact the school at any point with any questions or concerns that you may have.

Catholic School Advisory Council
Welcome to our Catholic School Advisory Council!
The education of our children is a partnership, working together to build a strong school community. Welcome, we’re glad you’re here.
What is the Role of the Catholic School Advisory Council?
A school council is an advisory body that functions within the parameters of Ministry of Education and Board policy. School councils provide an opportunity and the means to advise the principal and the Board on any matter on the improvement of pupil achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents/guardians. The ultimate responsibility for the administration and management of the day-to-day operation of the school rests with the principal.
A school council is an important venue for the various stakeholders in education to work in partnership. Its role, in collaboration with the principal, staff, and the community, is to help set the priorities of the school and to enhance learning opportunities, through various activities, for the benefit of our children/students.
What a Catholic School Advisory Council is not
A school council is not a place to pursue your own agenda or advocate for your own child. Individual issues should be pursued through the classroom teacher and/or principal.

Land Acknowledgement
The schools in the Waterloo Catholic District School Board are situated on the Haldimand tract of land that is the traditional home of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe and Chonnonton People. We acknowledge the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge, laws and philosophies of the Indigenous Peoples with whom we share this land today.
We seek a new relationship with the Original People of this land, one based on honour and deep respect. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn here and reaffirm our collective commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our community.
Parish
Our Catholic Faith is taught, reinforced and celebrated in our school, homes and parish. We are so fortunate to have an excellent relationship with our local parish.
