Principal's Welcome
On behalf of our entire staff, I am delighted to welcome all students and families as we open our doors for our very first school year. It is with great excitement and gratitude that I share how truly thrilled I am to serve as the Principal of this new school. Together, we are beginning a meaningful journey as we build a vibrant community grounded in faith, learning, and shared purpose. A heartfelt welcome is extended to all of our new families, and especially to our youngest learners in Kindergarten who are beginning their educational journey with us.
As we open this new school, we do so with a strong foundation in our Catholic faith and the teachings of Jesus. Our commitment is to create a caring and inclusive environment where each child is nurtured and supported in their spiritual, academic, physical, social, and emotional growth. Faith will guide our daily actions, relationships, and learning as we strive to model kindness, compassion, and respect in all that we do.
We are excited to work collaboratively with our Giinawind school neighbours, fostering positive relationships and opportunities for shared experiences. At the same time, we remain deeply committed to our identity as a distinct Catholic school, where faith is at the heart of our work and community life.
We are blessed to be part of the St. Ambrose Parish community, and we look forward to working closely with Father Greg and the pastoral team to support our students in their faith development, including preparation for the Sacraments. This partnership will enrich the spiritual life of our school and provide meaningful opportunities for prayer, celebration, and reflection.
The success of our students is built on the strong partnership between home and school. We deeply value the role that parents and guardians play and encourage you to remain actively involved throughout the year. Open communication is essential, and we invite you to stay connected by maintaining regular contact with your child’s teacher, participating in school events, and supporting your child in understanding the importance of education, faith, and cooperation.
Our staff is a dedicated and collaborative team committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued and inspired to reach their full potential. As we begin this inaugural year, we look forward to building traditions, creating lasting memories, and establishing a strong sense of belonging for all.
It is truly an honour to open this new school together as a community rooted in faith and hope.

What is the Role of the Catholic School Advisory Council?
A school council is an advisory body that functions within the parameters of Ministry of Education and Board policy. School councils provide an opportunity and the means to advise the principal and the Board on any matter on the improvement of pupil achievement and to enhance the accountability of the education system to parents/guardians. The ultimate responsibility for the administration and management of the day-to-day operation of the school rests with the principal.
A school council is an important venue for the various stakeholders in education to work in partnership. Its role, in collaboration with the principal, staff, and the community, is to help set the priorities of the school and to enhance learning opportunities, through various activities, for the benefit of our children/students.
What a Catholic School Advisory Council is not
A school council is not a place to pursue your own agenda or advocate for your own child. Individual issues should be pursued through the classroom teacher and/or principal.

Land Acknowledgement
The schools in the Waterloo Catholic District School Board are situated on the Haldimand tract of land that is the traditional home of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe and Chonnonton People. We acknowledge the enduring presence and deep traditional knowledge, laws and philosophies of the Indigenous Peoples with whom we share this land today.
We seek a new relationship with the Original People of this land, one based on honour and deep respect. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn here and reaffirm our collective commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our community.
Parish
Our Catholic Faith is taught, reinforced and celebrated in our school, homes and parish. We are so fortunate to have an excellent relationship with our local parish.
