St. Elizabeth Overview
“Celebrating 25 Years of Excellence
in Catholic Education: 1992-2017 ”
St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Cambridge opened in 1992 and continues to be a vibrant model of progressive and accountable education, which endeavors to service and support a population of 370 students. We are a faith-centered community of lifelong learners who celebrate and model the vision of our patron St. Elizabeth. We officially celebrate our 25th Anniversary on April 30, 2017 with a Celebration of the Eucharist at St. Mary of the Visitation Church followed by an Open House at the school. We look forward to seeing alumni of St. Elizabeth Catholic School from years past.
Our school motto is “Affirming, Belonging Community”. It speaks to the relationships that create and nurture learning and growth at our school. St. Elizabeth Catholic School prides itself on developing the whole student in being intellectually, spiritually, physically and socially active. Our school community has faithfully supported many charitable organizations in our region such as the Terry Fox Foundation, Jump Rope for Heart, John Howard Society and the United Way and further works in fine partnership with our parish, St. Mary of the Visitation Church in supporting the “Red Stocking Campaign”, “Hats for Haiti” and food drives during Christmas and Easter for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
Our School staff consists of 40 teaching and support staff who take pride in their dedication and efforts to provide an environment of learning centered on student achievement and the overall spiritual and emotional well-being of all our students. Our most current initiatives as a school community is our involvement with the “Foundations for a Healthy School” program with the Region of Waterloo and our efforts to achieve a status of excellence in the “Eco Schools” program. Both these initiatives lend themselves to improving the standards of our school as a healthy and environmentally friendly environment to learn and thrive. We further encourage our students to be “Christ-filled, growth minded, resilient leaders” by celebrating growth mindset attributes and Christian virtues each month.
St. Elizabeth Catholic School receives outstanding support from volunteers, parents and an active School Council. We hold annual fundraising events to support student activities, school renewal initiatives and commitments towards the purchase of valuable teaching and learning resources.
Students of St. Elizabeth Catholic School, participate in a wide variety of activities: system and school level athletic competition, experiential outings and field trips throughout our region, intramural and extra-curricular activities, service projects, interest clubs, choir, folk dancing, excursions to Camp Brebeuf for the grade seven leadership program and our grade eight Confirmation and Residential retreat. The St. Elizabeth School Community commits to organizing social justice initiatives, most notable our raising of awareness for the plight of Syrian refugees in Waterloo Region. Our ‘We Team” works diligently at raising awareness of national and international projects.
Our staff and teachers are among the most dedicated in their profession. They provide the students with a multitude of learning and experiential learning opportunities which integrate all curriculum areas. St. Elizabeth teachers, staff, and volunteers are committed to improving student achievement by working collaboratively to achieve our school improvement goals where the “ABCs” of “Affirming, Belonging Community” consistently nurture our positive relationships with our community partners and friends.
