Our Catholic schools are the heart of the community providing success for each and a place for all. Imagine a school with an after school drop-in program, and basketball, volleyball, scouts and guides in the evenings. On weekends, it’s a place where community groups hold concerts, badminton practices and basketball games. Our schools are becoming hubs of our community and it’s happening across the province.
Community Use of Schools (CUS) is an initiative of the Ministry of Education that supports access to school space outside of school hours for not-for-profit community groups. Our school facilities are available for community use from September through June, Monday to Friday from 6:00 –10:30 pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays. Our schools are not open for community use during Christmas, March and Summer Breaks, Statutory Holidays, Secondary School exams, or Professional Activity (PA) Days. Community Use permits for the next school year cannot be input in the data base until after June 1. The approval process will start July 1 and, depending on volume, may take up to 3-4 weeks to complete. Once the permit is approved an e-mail copy will be sent to the individual making the request.
