Welcome to the CPIC Parent Hub!

Supporting our children through their ups and downs can be challenging! And you are not alone. We have a community of supportive services available to help us through the difficult times. We have shared some of your most pressing parenting questions with these organizations and they have provided helpful information for you here. Please check back often for updates to programs and services offered.

And speaking of challenging… are you curious about why intense emotions make it difficult for us to make logical choices and what we as parents and teachers can do to help soothe, calm and connect with our children?

Waterloo Region Suicide Prevention Council Video Summary

When faced with uncertain and difficult situations, it’s not uncommon to feel like we’re struggling with our overall mental and emotional well-being.  Resilience is not something we are born with, it involves “behaviors, thoughts, and actions that can be learned and developed in anyone” (American Psychological Association).  This video focuses on mental health and mental health promotion while providing education and awareness for suicide prevention.  We’ll briefly explore three categories of resiliency and protective factors, talk about how to identify some invitations for help, and end with some helpful resources.
