Position Summary

Reporting to the Data Systems Supervisor, the incumbent will create, design and manage data interfaces and structures using standard Microsoft methololigies SQL/XML/JSON.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Create, Design and Build SSRS Services server (On Prem/Azure)
  • Act as a leading technical expert in the field of system interfaces, data mining, design, development and automation as it is applies to educational systems and models
  • Work with IT Team on data projects and initiatives, creating conceptual and logical business models used to generate physical data models and database schema, or modify existing ones
  • Expand the Board’s use of data access through SQL queries/data sets/interfaces
  • Design, configure,manage data interfaces for various systems and vendors
  • Responsible for collaborating on data standards and governance initiatives for data architecture
  • Work with various teams to clarify and refine functional data requirement specifications as it relates to the Board’s multi-year strategic plan
  • Create and maintain interfaces between WCDSB applications
  • Develop datasets and reports for applications and end users
  • Work with vendors to import and export data from various databases
  • Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data systems
  • Create filters and queries for the Board’s new student management information system (SMS)
  • Manage SQL in on-prem systems
  • Other duties as required

 

Qualifications:

The incumbent will have the following experience and skillsets:

  • 3 year College or University diploma/degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering system analysis and/or database administration
  • 5 years experience performing similar functions
  • Schema design, data mapping and conversion, and data load with SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS
  • Creating complex SSIS packages using SSIS 2017/2016/2012
  • Installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting SQL Server
  • Extraction and migration of Data from heterogeneous data sources like flat files, CSV, Excel, MS Access, Oracle, XML & SQL Server using SSIS
  • Experience working with Azure SQL Services, ODS V1/V2, Datalink, data warehousing
  • Microsoft Office 2003/2007/2010/2013 to current, Power Pivot, Power Builder
  • C, SQL, PL/SQL, T: SQL, JAVA, Batch scripting, R, Python
  • OLAP tools: SSRS, SSAS, MDX, Power BI
  • PowerShell/CMD scripting and batch programming
  • Text editors for scripting code (e.g. SQLCMD, PowerShell, XML)
    SQL Server Integration Services and Analysis Services.
  • Source code management tools .e.g. Visual Source Safe (VSS) by Microsoft
  • Microsoft Access (DBMS desktop development tool)
  • Reporting Services and Reporting Services with SharePoint Implementation
  • Creating medium to large-scale enterprise logical data models using normalization techniques
  • Relational Database Design, Data Vault Modeling Design, Multi-Dimensional (Star -Schema) Design, Data Repository Design
  • MySQL DBMS
  • SQL Server 2012-19 SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, Transact SQL (T-SQL) or equivalent SQL Server Management -Studio Visual Basic 2012-19
  • Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills

 

Salary Level or Salary Range Starting At $72,100 – 84,825. Reflecting Level 6 of the PASS Salary Grid pursuant to the PASS Terms of Employment (subject to review)

Hours of Work: 35 hours/52 weeks/year

  • Enter and verify daily staff absenteeism when required.

Job Requirements:

  • Two (2) year college diploma in a related field in either Business Administration or Office Administration and two year’s related secretarial/administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.

Secondary School Credit Teachers – Personal Support Worker (PSW) Program St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centre

General Description of Duties:

  • Identifying students’ individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies

  • Facilitating Co-op component of Personal Support Worker course, including clinical supervision off campus
  • Delivering in-class component of Personal Support Worker credit courses

Minimum Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse holding current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and also

Facility Maintenance Mechanic

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board is accepting applications for the position of Facilities Maintenance Mechanic.  Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Facilities Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the regular inspection and maintenance of mechanical systems at Board secondary schools.  Duties associated to this role include:

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain building equipment and systems including electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and minor HVAC equipment repairs as permitted by Provincial legislation
  • Complete regulatory fire and life safety inspections at schools where required including fire suppression systems and inspect, test, and verify emergency power and lighting systems, etc. and complete all necessary logs
  • Maintenance of heating and cooling systems, including monitoring of low pressure in boiler lines and water temperatures, greasing, and lubricating pumps, changing belts, changing filters and upkeep of the water treatment system (where required).
  • Maintenance and repairs of electrical equipment, generators, and pumps. Replacement of ballasts, restarting rooftop HVAC, motor, and pump replacement
  • Monitor and adjust building automation systems
  • Monitoring of glycol system
  • Repair custodial equipment including vacuums, buffers, floors machines, etc.
  • Other general maintenance responsibilities as required.
  • General cleanliness of mechanical/electrical rooms.
  • Abide by applicable laws and policies with respect to access, use, or disclosure of student and Board data and information.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • At minimum, the successful candidate will possess a High school diploma or equivalent and one of the following certificates or trade licence, 4th class Operating Engineer, Facility Maintenance Mechanic 255W, Facility System Technician 255B or an Industrial Millwright with a valid 433A licence
  • Minimum three-year experience in a related role
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and schematics
  • Ability to meet the demands of physical labour, including frequent climbing, lifting, kneeling, carrying, standing, and driving.
  • Capability to work at various height levels including rooftops, from ladders and in skyjacks and able to work in disagreeable environmental conditions and congested work spaces
  • Hands on knowledge of basic power tools – power drills, etc.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office and work order systems
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, engaging in sound time-management practices
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract required
  • Knowledge of applicable TSSA regulations, Canadian Standards Association, Occupational Health and Safety, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
  • Gas Fitter 2 would be considered an asset

 

 

Salary Range: $27.19 per hour in accordance with the UNIFOR Collective Agreement, plus full benefit package and OMERS Pension Plan

Hours of Work: Permanent full time: 40 hours per week / 52 weeks per year

  • Facilitate book exchanges, literacy initiatives, readers advisory, and reading aloud to groups.
  • Provide orientation and training to students and staff as well providing library services and literacy activities within the school through web pages, and newsletters.
  • Maintains the library budget and selects new library materials based on Board guidelines and the needs of the school community; communicate with the school administration on priorities.
  • Produce overdue notices to account for all library materials.
  • Develop school library collections considering needs of the school and operating within parameters set out in Board policies.
  • Catalogues and circulates library materials using the automated library system.
  • Maintains the AV equipment collection, and provides basic set-up and troubleshooting.
  • Maintains bibliographic records using reports and undertakes regular inventories of the library collection as outlined in Board policies.
  • Knowledge or training in library systems software including cataloguing and inventory, and online databases.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have completed the Library and Information Technician Diploma in addition to possessing one (1) to two (2) years of experience working with children in a school or public library.

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and sound judgment.
  • Ability to plan work, multi-task and prioritize.

  • Three (3) year Child and Youth Care Worker college diploma;

  • Sound decision making skills with the use of initiative, judgement and resourcefulness;
  • First Aid Certificate;
  • Experience supporting students with autism would be an asset;

Educational Assistant (High Needs) Supply List

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plan/Behaviour Support Plan under the direction of the Classroom teacher and Special Education teacher.
  • To assist students with hygiene and personal care such as toileting, feeding, dressing and mobility devices.
  • To assist students who are experiencing behavioural difficulties.
  • To assist students who may be physically and verbally aggressive.
  • To assist with mobility and transferring from various positions (this may require lifting).
  • To assist operation of specialized equipment.
  • To assist in occupational and physiotherapy strategies as directed by school personnel in consultation with School Health Services.
  • To assist with the supervision of in-school and out-of-school activities for students with challenging needs.
  • To assist students with challenging needs in meeting/boarding the bus/taxi.
  • To assist with data gathering under the direction of the Classroom teacher and Special Education teacher.
  • Regular consultation/meeting with In-school team members.

 

Job Requirements for the supply list:

  • Minimum an Educational Assistant/Support Diploma; or
  • A college diploma/certificate in the following areas will be accepted: Developmental Services Worker/Social Services Worker Diplomas; or
  • Early Childhood Education college diploma with a Resource Teacher certificate or Personal Support Worker certificate*, along with related work experience with children with special needs.
  • The WCDSB will provide BMS (Behaviour Management System) training. If candidates have this training, it is considered an asset.

 

*Note: The Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate is recognized for the Educational Assistant (High Needs) Supply List, but not for permanent Educational Assistant (High Need) positions.  General Description of Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing and delivering Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) level appropriate lessons based on the ESL/LINC guidelines
  • Providing learner–centered language instruction using resources and activities sensitive to cultural differences
  • Assessing learners’ needs, development and skill levels in accordance with CLB guidelines using CLB based assessment tools
  • Implementing PBLA approach to teaching and assessment
  • Using an online platform for posting asynchronous learning materials (Google classroom, Onyx, Avenue, etc.) in a face to face or remote situation.
  • Delivering both synchronous (Google meet etc) and asynchronous learning.
  • Supporting students to work online using chrome books in both face to face and remote learning scenarios.
  • Using professionally acceptable and effective classroom management strategies following LINC/ESL procedures
  • Sharing community support contact information with students

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current TESL Ontario Accredited Certification
  • Recent Canadian Language Benchmarks training or willingness to complete
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English

Desirable Assets:

  • Experience teaching in an ESL setting
  • Experience working with adult learners
  • Experience working with PBLA
  • Knowledge of Google Classroom and/or other platforms for learning
  • Comfortable using and learning more technology for teaching English

Salary Level
