General Description of Duties:

  • Supporting student learning and supporting program success in the remote and physical environment.
  • Foster a safe and secure physical and virtual classroom environment.
  • Identify what students are expected to know and be able to do (learning goals) and what it looks like when they are successful (success criteria) and share this information effectively with students and parents.

  • Explore new solutions, e-tools, platforms to engage all students in a real life, task based, relevant to student experience learning of the second language.
  • Be flexible and innovative while planning, conducting, and managing regular and virtual classroom.
  • Develop long and short-term lesson plans to meet the needs and program objectives in virtual and physical classroom environment.
  • Using the target language as the language of instruction and communication whenever possible.
  • Participating in staff meetings, educational conferences, instructor training workshops, and extracurricular cultural events and activities.

In addition to teaching duties, the key instructor shall be responsible for:

  • Work closely with the site supervisor in verifying an accurate number of registered students.
  • Address issues related to the remote learning environment.
  • Community liaison: promoting Polish language and culture in the community.
  • Other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Fluent in oral and written Polish
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with professional experience teaching languages & working with children
  • Passionate about different cultures and the power of learning languages
  • Ability to deliver programs in a fun and dynamic approach in a physical and remote environment
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Degree in child development, elementary education, foreign language education strongly preferred
  • Ability to work successfully with colleagues on a team
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

HVAC Technician

Job Posting Number: UNIFOR 2020-05 HVAC Technician

 

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will complete the following duties:

 

DUTIES:

  • Perform emergency services and repair to Roof Top HVAC units, Heat Pumps, Split Systems, Air Conditioning and dehumidification systems and associated equipment and controls.
  • Complete preventive maintenance and summer service on various Roof top HVAC units, Heat Pumps, Split systems, Air conditioning units and dehumidification units.
  • Service and repair compressors, motors, heating sections and damper assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot heating and cooling controls.
  • Set up and test equipment, as well as conduct efficiency appraisals on various Roof Top HVAC units.
  • Able to operate BAS systems for all schools.
  • Check efficiency outputs and parameters of HVAC systems.
  • Replace defective, leaking, discoloured and worn components.
  • Perform shut-downs and lock outs to systems.
  • Make adjustments to pressures and controls. Clean and lubricate components.
  • Check calibrations. Reassemble and repair components and systems.
  • Starts-ups, tests and charges the system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Trades
  • Hold a valid Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Certificate 313A
  • Hold a valid Gas Fitter certificate (G1)
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience in Heat Pumps and HVAC service at a comparable work site on primarily commercial type HVAC equipment.
  • Hold a valid class G driver license with a safe driving record.
  • Must demonstrate ability to troubleshoot related electrical control systems.
  • Must be self-motivated, safety conscious, have excellent interpersonal and strong organizational skills, verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment with minimum supervision.
  • Demonstrate ability to read plans, specifications, blue prints, and manufacturers’ literature.
  • Must have working knowledge of W.H.M.I.S. 2015 system and safe handling of hazardous materials.
  • Good computer skills required.
  • Experience in boiler controls, circulating pumps, mixing valves, and coupling assemblies and DDC controls would be and asset.

 

Salary Range:  $35.88-37.53 per hour in accordance with the UNIFOR Collective Agreement, plus full benefit package and OMERS Pension Plan

Hours of Work: Permanent full time: 40 hours per week / 52 weeks per year

General Description of Duties:

As a Child Care Worker, you will be available for daily occasional supply assignments. The responsibilities of the position include collaborating with the Early Learning team (including the classroom teacher and /or Extended Day staff) to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten and Extended Day Programs within a classroom.

 

The Child Care Worker will assist in supporting a faith-based full day Early Learning Kindergarten program and environment to enhance children’s cognitive, physical, social, spiritual and emotional development.

 

The successful candidate will have good interpersonal skills to function effectively as a team member, and the ability to follow instructions.  This position reports to the school principal.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • A secondary high school diploma
  • 18 years of age or over
  • Canadian citizen with Social Insurance Number or valid work permit to be eligible to work in Canada
  • Satisfactory criminal background check
  • Experience in working or volunteering with young children
  • Experience in delivering age appropriate programs
  • Basic computer competency
  • Listening and problem-solving skills required when dealing with young children
  • Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for program; and must be able to physically assist children as required (e.g. lifting)
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner with children, parents, staff, and the general public
  • Proven ability to follow organizational policies and procedures in an appropriate and timely manner
  • Strong organization and time management skills

 

Preference:

  • Consideration will be given to those candidates with a diploma or degree in a program such as Early Childhood Education, Recreation and Leisure Services, psychology, sociology, or a student currently enrolled in such a program

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher and other designated staff to plan and implement the Early Learning Kindergarten and Extended Day program through developmentally appropriate curriculum-based activities
  • Assist the classroom teacher and other designated staff to support individual students’ identified needs, strengths, interests, and stages of development
  • Assist the classroom teacher and special education teacher to carry out specialized activities to support learning for children requiring an Individual Education Plan (IEP)
  • Collaborate with the Extended Day team to plan play-based learning activities. Activities include but are not limited to crafts, celebrations, outdoor play, free play, etc.
  • Maintain a healthy, physical, emotional, and social learning context for students
  • Supervise and assist children in washroom routines, dressing and lunchtime activities
  • Assist and maintain set-up of classroom (e.g. display, organization of materials etc.)
  • Complete any duties as assigned by principal

 

Rate of Pay:  $19.98 per hour (Appendix 2 – CUPE Salary Schedule as at September 1, 2020)

Hours of Work:

  • Schedules will vary from school to school and will range from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm.
  • Daily occasional Child Care Workers are normally called for assignments that range from a start at 8 am to those that end at 6:00 pm.

General Description of Duties:

Payroll administrators process payments to employees based on information received by Human Resource Services.  The ideal candidate should be able to problem solve, work as a member of an interdependent team, and provide constructive feedback on processes and systems used by the department.

  • Computerized calculation of pay, deductions and contributions.
  • Calculation of adjustments for paid and unpaid absences.
  • Verify, edit and transmit on-line production reports.
  • Timely remittance of statutory and non-statutory deductions.
  • Familiarity with pension plans.
  • Preparation and verification of all journal entries and cheque requests.
  • Supporting duties ie., responding to employee inquiries and ad hoc reports.
  • Effectively communicate with government agencies, other departments and employees.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two-year college diploma in business or a related discipline.
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner Certification (Canadian Payroll Association), or in progress.
  • Minimum of two years payroll experience in a computerized payroll environment.
  • Knowledge and ability in a variety of software applications related to payroll.
  • Comprehensive and current knowledge of applicable government legislation and the ability to implement collective agreements, pension plans and all payroll related regulations.
  • Strong communication and analytical ability with excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated sound decision making skills involving the use of considerable ingenuity, initiative, judgement and resourcefulness.
  • Knowledge of the Canada Revenue Agency, Service Canada, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board and Employer Health Tax Regulations.
  • Possess organizational and multi tasking skills in a busy work environment.

 

Hourly Rate:        $26.46 to $28.00 per hour (rates effective September 1, 2020)

                             (Plus a current Market Adjustment Allowance of $8,000 is associated with the position)

 

Hours of Work:   Permanent Full-time, 35 hours per week

                           Work schedule determined by the Supervisor

Location:             Corporate Services at the Catholic Education Centre, Kitchener, ON

Weeks/Year:        52 weeks/year

Applications for the position of a Language Instructor – Japanese Language are being accepted by the International Languages Program – Elementary for St. Louis Adult Learning and Continuing Education Centres.

IL Instructors support the language learning of each student in physical and remote environment.  They have responsibility related to the program, the students, the parents, the community, and the classroom.  The instructors must understand the concepts of equity and inclusiveness in the Canadian context.

Summary of Duties:

  • Supporting student learning, and supporting program success in the remote and physical environment;
  • Foster a safe and secure physical and virtual classroom environment;
  • Identify what students are expected to know and be able to do (learning goals) and what it looks like when they are successful (success criteria), and share this information effectively with students and parents;
  • Interact effectively with students using different technological tools in an organized and systematic way;
  • Explore new solutions, e-tools, platforms to engage all students in a real life, task based, relevant to student experience learning of the second language;
  • Be flexible and innovative while planning, conducting and managing virtual classroom;
  • Develop long and short-term lesson plans to meet the needs and program objectives in virtual and physical classroom environment;
  • Using the target language as the language of instruction and communication whenever possible;
  • Participating in staff meetings, educational conferences, instructor training workshops, and extracurricular cultural events and activities.
  • Collaborate with the school community, parents and other teachers to improve teaching methods, explore new and safe platforms and improve student wellbeing;

SKILLS:

  • Fluent in oral and written English and the language of instruction. (Japanese)
  • Ability to manage lessons with classes containing students of several ability levels.

EDUCATION:

  • Degree in child development, elementary education, foreign language education strongly preferred.

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board with a total student population of 23,000, provides services to students in 52 schools (J.K. to Grade 12) across the Waterloo Region.  As a member of the Student Services Team, you will provide assessment and recommendations for students with a broad range of issues.  The position involves consultation with students, principals, teachers, parents and community agencies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in psychology
  • Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario having the authority to perform the controlled act of diagnosis autonomously and ‘school psychology’ as a declared area of competency with the College
  • Evidence of experience in psychoeducational assessment and consultation
  • Ability/attitude to be a positive, contributing member of a multidisciplinary team within a number of school settings
  • Must possess a valid driver’s licence and be able to use own vehicle

 

Desirable Assets:

  • Experience in an educational setting and knowledgeable in another language
  • Participation in ongoing professional/leadership development activities
