How to Apply

1. Join the Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) Team – view current opportunities. All applications are received through Apply to Education.

2. Registered for an Apply to Education Account

  • Apply to Education – Applicant Tips and Tutorials
  • Once you have an Apply to Education Account – set up our job postings alerts so you do not miss any future employment opportunities.

3. Review WCDSB job postings and find a job that aligns with your skillset and experience.

4. Prepare and gather application package portfolio documents in accordance with job posting requirements and upload your documents into your Apply to Education Employment Portfolio.

5. Submit your application portfolio – find the job posting and click the Apply button and follow the step-by-step application process in Apply to Education platform.

6. You will receive three confirmations when you successfully submit your portfolio to a WCDSB job posting.

  • A pop up advising you of your successful application submission.
  • An email confirmation with the details of the posting.
  • The posting appears in you Job Application Log under the Job Posting Section of your Apply to Education Account.

7. Preparing for your interview – depending on the role, you may be requested to participate in an in-person interview or virtual interview using MS Teams platform.

  • In-person Interview – you will be provided with specific details such a location, parking details, etc.
  • Virtual Interview – will take place on MS Team platform. You will receive an email calendar invite with the MS Team link.
  • Some of our roles (Office/Clerical Staff – computer testing; Educational Assistants and Caretaking – physical testing, PASS – pre/post interview question/testing), may require employment testing or pre/post interview question, pre hire physical testing as part of the interview process. You will be notified of the interview process requirements at time of being invited to an interview.

8. Virtual Interview Best Practices:

  • Simply click the link to join the interview. You may be placed in a virtual waiting room and an interview panel will greet you.
  • Be sure that you are in a space with a secure internet connection,
  • Your camera is “ON”
  • Limit background noise, where possible

9. Successful Interview – applicants that have a successful interview will move forward to the reference checking process. The interview team may confirm that your two professional references are previous or current immediate supervisors who would be able to speak to your work experience.

10. Satisfactory Reference completed – applicant please ensure your professional references are aware they will be contacted and ensure the contact information is up to date and accurate.

11. Formal Job Offer of Employment.

12. Request for your Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check.

13. Onboarding and Orientation Program.

14. You are part of the WCDSB team to support student learning environments for all students and families across Waterloo Region.

  • Copy of Roman Catholic baptismal certificate or confirmation letter from the Parish that you are enrolled/completed the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) program
  • Declaration of Commitment form – Click here for the Declaration of Commitment Form
  • Two professional academic references that can speak to your experience and skills.
  • Ontario College of Teachers’ Certificate of Qualification (if applicable)
  • Most recent teacher performance appraisal summative reports OR practice teaching reports (if applicable)
  • Occasional Teacher Evaluation/Experienced Teacher Evaluation /New Teacher Induction Program reports (if applicable)

Optional Preferred Documents:

** A Pastoral Reference is not required at time of application. You will be provided with up to 24 months from date of hire to a permanent position to provide the pastoral reference documentation. The Board team will provide support resources to staff during their employment experience.

NOTE: First consideration will be provided to candidates that can provide the Catholicity documentation as part of their application portfolio. Non-Catholic candidate applications will be considered and accepted for Permanent French Teacher Positions

  • Must have French Second Language (FSL) OCT Qualifications
  • Most Recent Teacher Performance Appraisal (if available)

    • Employed by a School Board on a contract position within the last 24 months – one reference must be the most recent, immediate supervisor.
    • Faculty of Education student within the last 12 months and not been employed by a School Board on a contract position – one reference must be a Faculty of Education Advisor or Associate Teacher.
    • Returning to a teaching from a leave greater than 24 months – professional and/or academic references or alternative may be personal character references.

  • Copy of Roman Catholic Baptismal certificate. A Catholic Confirmation certificate is necessary ONLY if you were baptized in affiliation with a Christian denomination other than Roman Catholic.
