General Description of Duties:

  • Deliver the secondary school international language curriculum in a classroom, face to face setting
  • Developing course materials and curriculum content in accordance with the Ministry of Education Curriculum document for International Languages gr. 9-12: http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/secondary/classiclang912curr.pdf and ensure proper planning and follow up for the academic progress of all students
  • Identifying students’ individual learning needs and using a variety of instructional strategies including small group, individual, whole class, and co-operative learning experiences
  • Evaluating the progress of students and discussing results with students and parents
  • Creating annual reports of students’ performance and challenges, with recommendations for improvement
  • Ensuring a safe academic environment conducive to learning in class and online
  • Promoting positive attitudes towards, and encouraging enthusiasm for language learning
  • Participating in staff meetings, educational conferences, instructor training workshops, and extracurricular cultural events and activities
  • Utilize Virtual Platforms in the online teaching, if necessary, with the Google brand (specifically Meet, Docs, Slides, Forms), YouTube videos
  • Create a lesson from a PowerPoint or Google slide show, add voice if you wish to send the file to students. 
  • Engage students in communicative, real life, task-based language activities which emphasize the 3 strands of oral, reading and writing

Minimum Requirements:

  • Hold a current Ontario College of Teachers Certificate of Qualification (If no candidates with an OCT apply, other candidates will be considered)
  • Intermediate & Senior teaching qualifications in the credit language
  • Demonstrable evidence of instructing in the credit language –Chinese
  • A certification in language instruction from an accredited College or University would be an asset

Salary Level

  • Certified rate $45.34 per hour plus Stat and Vacation Pay
  • Uncertified rate $34.88 per hour, plus Stat and Vacation Pay

Hours of Work:   October 15, 2022 – June  17, 2023 Saturdays 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

General Description of Duties:

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Education, reporting to the Director of Education. The successful candidate will be assigned a system portfolio that meets the individual’s expertise and background. The Superintendent of Education will provide effective leadership to and work proactively with school administrators. The Superintendent of Education will provide strategic, innovative and operational leadership and will work with the Board’s senior management in developing and executing strategic plans in support of the educational and business objectives of the Board and be expected to provide support at board meetings and other venues. Minimum Requirements:

  • Maintaining accounting software code of accounts, updating access for staff and training new staff as required

Minimum Requirements:

  • Professional accounting designation or actively pursuing a designation
  • 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated proficiency with technology and advanced computer applications
  • Advanced analytical skills and ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and language skills

Desirable Assets:

  • School board or other public sector experience
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics NAV

Salary Range: PASS – Level 5, $68,062-$80,074 per year in accordance with  the PASS Terms of Employment

  4. Interact effectively with students using different technological tools in an organized and systematic way
  5. Explore new solutions, e-tools, platforms to engage all students in a real life, task based, relevant to student experience learning of the second language
  6. Be flexible and innovative while planning (for longer term assignments), conducting and managing a physical or a virtual classroom
  7. Develop long and short-term lesson plans to meet the needs and program objectives in virtual and physical classroom environment when in a long-term temporary assignment
  8. Using the target language as the language of instruction and communication whenever possible
  9. Collaborate with the school community, parents, and other teachers to improve teaching methods, explore new and safe platforms, and improve student wellbeing when in a long-term temporary assignment

Requirements:

  1. Fluent in oral and written English and the language of instruction
  2. Relevant teaching experience or appropriate related experience with elementary school-age children
  3. Ability to manage lessons with classes containing students of several ability levels
  4. Commitment to work effectively as a part of a team
  5. Demonstrated willingness and ability to work in a multicultural environment
  6. Ability to deliver lessons in a fun and dynamic approach
  7. Must be eligible to work in Canada

Assets:

  • Degree in child development, elementary education, foreign language education strongly preferred

They have responsibility related to the program, the students, the parents, the community, and the classroom.  The instructors must understand the concepts of equity and inclusiveness in the Canadian context.

General Description of Duties:

  1. Supporting student learning, and supporting program success in the remote learning and in person physical environment
  2. Foster a safe and secure physical and virtual classroom environment
  3. Identify what students are expected to know and be able to do (learning goals) and what it looks like when they are successful (success criteria), and share this information effectively with students and parents
  4. Interact effectively with students using different technological tools in an organized and systematic way
  5. Explore new solutions, e-tools, platforms to engage all students in a real life, task based, relevant to student experience learning of the second language
  6. Be flexible and innovative while planning (for longer term assignments), conducting and managing a physical or a virtual classroom
  7. Develop long and short-term lesson plans to meet the needs and program objectives in virtual and physical classroom environment when in a long-term temporary assignment
  8. Using the target language as the language of instruction and communication whenever possible
  9. Collaborate with the school community, parents, and other teachers to improve teaching methods, explore new and safe platforms, and improve student wellbeing when in a long-term temporary assignment

East Kitchener 7-12 Boundary Review – Affecting ALL Grades in ALL Schools Involved

Schools involved:

Canadian Martyrs CES, Saint John Paul II CES, St. Anne (K) CES, St. Daniel CES, St. Mary’s HS

Purpose:

To establish boundaries for the new St. Patrick Elementary School and the new East Kitchener 7-12 School.

Boundary changes will affect all grades and all schools involved.
