Special Education Resource Teachers
Services
Special Education Resource Teachers:
- Are the first Board level contact for special education teachers, principals, parents and outside agencies. For example, Special Education Resource teachers can facilitate the entrance of students with special needs into our system; coordinate the acquisition of personalized equipment as well as coordination of specialized services.
- Work in conjunction with school personnel in a variety of ways. For example, Special Education Resources teachers can work with staff in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP’s), Intensive Student Amount (ISA) claim preparation and programming. They are a resource to Principals, Special Education teachers and classroom teachers on all matters related to Special Education.
- Provide ongoing professional development to Special Education Teachers and Educational Assistants through in-services and in school visits.
- Are part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of a Social Worker, Speech and Language Pathologist, Psycho Educational Consultant and Child and Youth Care Worker. This multi-disciplinary or Collaborative Team, provides support and assistance to school staff for programming, assessments, strategies and links with community agencies.
