How long do you keep your resumes on file?
Applications are active on Apply to Education for one (1) year. Please contact Apply to Education directly for more information.
Can I set up an appointment to discuss my resume?
Due to the large number of applications we receive, the Board does not meet with individuals who call to request an appointment to present their resume. Everyone is welcome to submit their resume and the Board will contact you if you are chosen as a candidate as specific positions become available.
Do all the school boards have the same rates of pay?
The pay rates for employees vary from board to board. You must call the individual Board office to discuss their current salary rates.
How long is the probationary period for new employees?
The probationary period varies from four months to one year depending on the employee group.
Does the Board have a pension plan?
All permanent full-time support staff employees
are eligible for Ontario Municipal Employees
Retirement System (OMERS), which is the Board
pension plan.
Teaching staff participate in the Ontario Teachers'
Pension Plan.

If I get a position with the Board, how much vacation do I get?
Only 12-month support staff employees are entitled to receive paid vacation days. The amount of vacation varies from 2 to 6 weeks based on employee group and length of service. 10-month (school year) and 45-week employees receive vacation pay on each paycheque at a rate varying from 4% to 12% based on employee group and length of service.

Do I need to get a Criminal Background Check?
Yes. All school board employees in Ontario must submit an acceptable Criminal Background Check as a condition of employment, in accordance with Ontario Regulation 521/01 of the Education Act.
What is the Fifth Disease Protocol for pregnant employees?
Effective March 22, 2004,. the attached protocol has been developed to deal with Fifth Disease. This protocol will provide you the infomation to assist staff in regards to a Fifth Disease outbreak - this protocol with attachments will be couriered to all sites.
