Application Process and Forms - Certified/New Grad Teacher Application FAQ's

Please note: The Board is happy to answer questions regarding the application requirements. Apply to Education customer service is able to help with application process questions or difficulties with the Apply to Education Web site.

Q: How do I apply to the Waterloo Catholic District School Board?

A: The Board will only accept applications submitted through Apply to Education at www.applytoeducation.ca.  All documents must be uploaded to the Apply to Education Web site. The Board does not require or accept any hardcopy documents. All references, including the pastoral reference, and transcripts may be opened, scanned, and uploaded by the applicant or sent to Apply to Education to be scanned and uploaded.

Q: Should I visit schools in your Board and hand them my application?

A: As our application process is centralized through Human Resource Services, we ask that applicants only submit their application through Apply to Education.

Q: What documents does the Board require in a complete application?

A: Click here for a complete checklist.

Q: When should I apply?

A: The Board accepts applications year-round. However, we can only guarantee that your application will be considered for an interview before the next academic year if you have applied to the supply posting available early January with a complete application. Your application is to be submitted to the WCDSB via Apply to Education by the second Monday in February.

Q: Will the Board contact me regarding my   application status?

A: As applicants are able to log in to their Apply to Education account and review their own application package, the Board does not verify application statuses with  applicants. Applicants do receive a confirmation e-mail from Apply to Education when the applicant submits their application to the Board and any job postings.

Q: When will I get an interview?

A: The Board is unable to provide a timeframe to applicants for possible interview dates. Applicants will be contacted by the Board when they are scheduled for an interview.

Q: Can I supply teach until I get an interview?

A: Our interview process requires that certified/new grad teachers must have a successful first-stage Board interview before being added to the supply list.

Q: Does the Board conduct phone interviews?

A: The Board is unable to provide phone interviews for applicants.

Q: I have had a successful first-stage interview with the Board but the Ontario College of Teachers has not certified me yet. May I still supply teach?

A: Yes, you may supply teach with us as an uncertified, emergency supply teacher. Until the issue date of your certification, you will be paid the uncertified supply teacher rate of pay and be called to supply after the certified supply teacher list has been exhausted. Once you are certified, you will be placed on the certified supply teachers list and paid the certified supply teacher rate of pay.

Q: For what positions does the Board post and when?

A: The Board does not post externally for any positions unless we deem the need for specific qualifications.
