Insurance
Introduction
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board participates in a joint insurance exchange venture for Ontario School Boards called the Ontario School Boards’ Insurance Exchange (OSBIE). The Board carries coverage in the following areas:
- Property
- Crime
- Boiler & Machinery
a - Liability
b - Non-Owned Automobile - Fleet Automobile
- Commercial/Heavy Vehicles
As with any insurance policy, each of these categories of coverage carries a deductible which is unique to the area covered.
NOTE: Damage to one’s personal automobile while on Board business
will NOT be covered by OSBIE and therefore IS NOT the Board’s
responsibility. The employee’s insurer will be the first responder.
OSBIE will respond ONLY after the limits of the employee’s
insurance are exhausted.
Therefore, payment of deductibles, related
to incidents occurring while on Board business,
on or off Board property, remains the responsibility
of the employee. Where personal injury is incurred,
please contact Human Resource Services, Maura Quish,
Ext. 2210.
The Board, through the Reliable Life Insurance Company, also makes available Student Accident Insurance at a nominal cost to all students in the system. This insurance is purchased by the parent(s)/guardian(s) of the student(s) on an annual basis. Though voluntary, all students should be strongly encouraged to participate in insurance coverage through this means.
