Office of the Director of Education

Roger Lawler - Director of Education and Secretary to the Board:
Responsible for the System Improvement Plan and the on-going implementation of Ministry of Education and Board of Trustees policies. Co-coordinator of the Catholic Education Excellence in Leadership Program and supervisor of the Resource Development Officer and Chief Information Officer. Director – Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region. 

John Shewchuk - Senior Manager of Public Affairs and Executive Assistant to the Director :
Strategic communications, media relations, emergency planning & emergency response management, intergovernmental / interagency liaison, sustainable development, ODA and AODA accessibility standards, board web site.

Barb Pilsner - Executive Administrative Assistant to the Director of Education & Board of Trustees

Sandra Quehl - Chief Information Officer:
Management of all information technology services.

Gytis Grabauskas – Senior Manager of Human Resource Services:
Labour relations, collective agreement administration.

Corporate Services

Shesh Maharaj– Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of the Board:
Supervision of Financial Services, Capital Planning, Facility Services, Purchasing, Continuing Education (business functions), Internal Audit, Admissions and Assessment, and Risk.   Director – Student Transportation Services of Waterloo Region. 

Laura Isaac – Senior Manager of Financial Services:
Accounting, payroll, external audit, long term debt, financial statements, budget, income tax compliance, sales tax compliance, deferred salary leave plan, financial analysis and reporting, cash management, school funds/fundraising.

Dave Bennett – Senior Manager of Capital Planning:
Capital Plan, construction project planning & design, accommodation planning (boundary reviews, enrolment projections), property management (land acquisition/sales, agreements, legal issues).

Arnie Wohlgemut – Senior Manager of Facility Services
School renewal projects, maintenance, custodial services, energy conservation, accessibility, construction and renovations, school greening and community use of schools.

Learning Services

Bruce Rodrigues – Associate Director of Education: Learning Services:
Curriculum development and implementation (JK-12), supervision of the St. Louis Adult Learning & Continuing Education Centres, family life, professional standard of ethics, NTIP, MISA, Newcomer Reception Centre, media services.

Paul Tratnyek – Superintendent of Learning: Student Success:
Supervision of secondary schools, secondary school staffing, all chaplaincy programs, Nutrition for Learning, safe schools (secondary), liaison with the Region of Waterloo Catholic Deanery.

Manny Figueiredo – Superintendent of Learning: School Effectiveness:
Supervision of the St. Benedict CSS and St. Mary’s H.S. families of elementary schools, safe schools (elementary), Parent Involvement Committee (PIC), school councils.

Gerry Clifford – Superintendent of Learning: Parent Engagement:
Special education, Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC), liaison with Family & Children’s Services, liaison with Public Health, supervision of six elementary schools in the Resurrection CSS family of elementary schools. Supervision of the Monsignor Doyle CSS family of elementary schools.

Rick Boisvert – Superintendent of Learning and Human Resource Services :
Contract administration, collective bargaining, benefits, employment equity, EAP, staffing issues, staff reports, employee relations, health and safety, staff development for non-teaching staff, supervision of six elementary schools in the St. David CSS family of schools.
